Whortlekill Car Show Fundraiser -Aug. 6
Whortlekill Rod & Gun Club held its annual car and motorcycle show on Sunday, Aug. 6, and our post was invited to set up a fundraising tent and information booth. Members manning the booth were Don Burns, Bill Kriebel, Bill Meyer, John Polasko and Commander Jim Reynolds. Not only did we collect a few dollars, we met some prospective new members.
Poppy Day "Coin Drop"
Saturday, May 27 was the day "Manny Bacon" Post distributed "poppies" to patrons and collected donations at Flory's (North and South), Stewart's on Rt. 82 and the Convenience Mart at the intersection of Routes 52 and 82, 84 Diner in Fishkill and the Red Line Diner in Fishkill.
At Convenience Mart, it was John Call, Mark Graser and John Lyons representing our post. At Stewart's, Jeff Boes, Dona Greenwood, Len Hart, Jeff Miedowski and Joe Ryan manned the tables. Flory's South had Bill Meyer and John Polasko. At Flory's North it was Don Burns and Bill Kriebel. Norm Dauerer and Karl Sokol distributed poppies and took donations at Red Line Diner. At the 84 Diner, it was Jim Broughton, Conrad Gagnon and Ed Morrison,
At the end of our day, we had distributed hundreds of "poppies" in remembrance of those who sacrificed their lives in service of our country. We also collected some "coins" to finance our veterans' programs. All in all, it was a very good day.
