The day started with a hearty breakfast at the Falls Diner for event participants, some of whom skipped the repast and went directly to St. Denis Cemetery to begin placing flags starting at 10:00 a.m. Also arriving at that time was a group of volunteers from Amazon. Commander Ashworth got things going by first instructing the volunteers on the proper way to locate veterans' graves and place flags at their headstones. Bill Meyer and Nelson Heddle proceeded to the Hopewell Reformed Church Cemetery to place flags there. Bill Kriebel followed later to assist and to photograph the event.
Other Post members participating were Jeff Boes, Jim Broughton, John Call, Mark Graser, John Lyons, Ed Morrison and Karl Sokol.
Kevin Hines was unable to participate on Saturday, so he went to some Wiccopee burial sites on Sunday and planted flags at veterans' graves there.
